From 4K to K40...
The Guardian takes a tongue in cheek look at this weeks surprise launch of what was thought to be a dead product (movie cameras that shoot on film) by what was thought to be a dead company (Kodak)..
I think this is good news. It's a broad church. Super 8 has a unique aesthetic, and is wrapped up in fuzzy nostalgia for many children of the 60's, 70's or early 80's.
It's a gift for certain kinds of story-telling, and not a resolve control panel in sight...
Think 'holga' or 'toy camera' effect, but in video clips, but video clips without sound.
For what it's worth I still have a super8 camera (A Canon 518 SV), and I still have some super8 film to burn up (E6 Kodak Ektachrome - sadly no more K40 processing) so I won't necessarily be first in the Q at the Kodak CES booth..
