He shoots, they score (fingers crossed!)

I was recently asked if I could help with a wee film to support a competition entry for a local community football club set up, which I was happy to do, donating my time and skill to help Renfrew FC Youth make their case. Entrants had to provide a wee video to give a taste of what their club does, and the effects of the Covid19 pandemic on their activities for the #ClubsInCrisis competition ran by www.madebysport.com Renfrew FC Youth is ran by volunteers and not tied to any school or denomination and they have a policy never to turn kids away, mindful of the poverty that exists in the town. It's great to see them on practise nights, the place is a constant stream of activity, of happy noise, of focused young minds, and more than a few wee prospects honing their skills. Shot over a couple of sessions with some local pick up material, and with a bit of script input from my wife (trust fundraiser) to make sure we hit all the required marks within a concise social media friendly package, being particularly mindful of the tight restrictions imposed by twitter, where the competition is taking place. Less than 24 hours in and already the film has had 1,200 hits, which is really great for a local niche project like this. It reinforces my belief in the effectiveness of video to get across lots of information in an appealing and accessible way,

no matter what you are 'selling' be it a product or a good cause, it's absolutely true that 'people buy from people' and video is a great way to introduce the personalities behind your project, in a way that you can't get from an application form or powerpoint. Anyway that's my wee plug by with, good luck to everybody at Renfrew FC Youth.
