On Sept 19th I presented a suite of films drawing on original commissioned interview footage with friends, family and fans and Jacks own archive, at Paisley Arts Centre. The event was part of the 'Reeling through the years' season curated by Richard Weeks of Renfrewshire Leisure, who has been diligently collecting, telecine-ing and presenting historical local films around Renfrewshire. It was a pleasure to present these films before Jacks family and other guests, Jack left his mark on the recording of Paisleys social history, and was also an interesting inspiration as an untrained amateur film-maker who was making and presenting local documentary on the rapidly changing town he observed before him. Jack was considered, articulate and funny, but didn't shy away from serious subjects. It's right that he was properly recognised for his contribution - I'm glad I was able to play a part in this during his lifetime - and it was also lovely to have the opportunity to put this series of films together which also gave his pal and collaborator David Muir a deserved nod.
